Locus of Control
Explanation:
Locus of control refers to an individual’s beliefs about the causes of life outcomes.
- Internal locus of control: outcomes result from personal actions
- External locus of control: outcomes result from chance, fate, or others
A more internal locus is associated with higher motivation, resilience, and well‑being (Rotter, 1966).
Example:
Someone with an internal locus might respond to job loss by building new skills, while someone with an external locus may feel powerless.
