Explanation:
Cognitive Load Theory (CLT) posits that working memory has limited capacity; therefore, learning is optimized when instructional materials reduce unnecessary mental load (Sweller, 1988).
CLT identifies three load types:

- Extraneous load (poor instructional design)
- Germane load (building knowledge structures)
